DEWALT D25263K D-Handle SDS Rotary Hammer Drill Review – Is It the Best for You?
I’m a huge fan of renovation projects and probably do them more often compared to most homeowners. I help friends with such projects too. That is why I needed a rotary hammer drill and picked the DEWALT D25263K D-Handle SDS 1-1/8-inch model based on the recommendation of a close friend. Here I will review this model based on my experience to help you decide if it could meet your needs and requirements.
I like the slim design of this rotary hammer drill from DEWALT. It is fairly light and this helps reduce fatigue during work to a great extent. I find the D-handle to be the most ergonomic I’ve ever used. I can hold the power tool firmly without squeezing it tightly. The front handle is well-designed too, although I wish it were slightly bigger. As a whole, I find this tool easy to hold and to handle.
The Functions Evaluated
You can select from three different modes of operation. These are hammer drilling, drilling only and chiseling only. This makes the rotary hammer drill highly versatile, especially given the fact that traditional models have only the first and third functions. You can demolish all kinds of structure with this tool, drill holes and use it for all kinds of chiseling jobs. This is what attracted me to it in the first place.
How about the Bits?
As the name of DEWALT D25263K D-Handle SDS suggests, it uses the SDS-plus holding system. This means that it will work with all SDS-plus bits which are quite diverse and many in number. The most common ones are from 5/32 to 1-1/4 inches in diameter. In my experience, you can drill both small and very big holes with this tool while the level of accuracy is always high.
Powerful and Reliable Operation?
This rotary hammer drill is equipped with an 8.5-amp motor with high-performance design. It produces the 3 joules of impact energy which is more than sufficient even for the heaviest of applications typical for home renovation projects. I’ve demolished both brick and concrete structures with it and it has never failed me. It drills holes incredibly fast. I’m not easily impressed, but I can confidently say that this is one of my favorite power tools.
The rotating brush ring is sturdy and dependable. It delivers full speed and torque in both forward and reverse direction. You should not expect to have any issues with it, no matter what type of material you are working with. I can say the same for the forward and reverse functions of my BLACK+DECKER LI2000 cordless screwdriver too.
Protection and Comfort Features
The designers have given a great deal of thought to the safety of the DEWALT D25263K D-Handle SDS. Its clutch works smoothly and reduces the unexpected high-torque reactions. This enables you to work effectively and without interruption in addition to protecting you.
Another feature which I appreciate a lot is Shocks. It is an active vibration control system which reduces the vibration that you feel when holding the handles. This helps you to have a firm grip of the rotary hammer drill even after you’ve worked for a considerable amount of time. Additionally, your accuracy will be inevitably improved. I personally work a lot more quickly thanks to this feature.
I’m not a huge fan of this power tool’s yellow color, but this is literally the only downside that I could find. I’m more than happy with its design, features, functions and overall performance.
The DEWALT D25263K D-Handle SDS rotary hammer drill is a reliable and highly versatile power tool. It enables you to do a variety of hammer drilling, drilling and chiseling jobs effectively and quickly without experiencing great fatigue. To get more details and reviews, check out Amazon.
