BLACK+DECKER LI2000 3.6-Volt 3-Position Cordless Screwdriver Review – How Good Is It?
Sometimes, it’s not practical to use a power drill for fastening jobs because the space is too tight or because you are already very tired. That is why I keep my BLACK+DECKER LI2000 3.6-volt 3-position cordless screwdriver at hand. I have to say that my wife uses it quite frequently too. Use my review of this battery-operated power tool to make up your mind about it.
One of the things which I like the most about this cordless screwdriver is how compact and light it is. Even people without much physical strength or experience in fastening objects can use it. Experiencing fatigue is practically impossible.
The option for locking the handle in 3 different positions makes this tool highly versatile. The standard A-style position is convenient to use when you are mounting an object on a wall for instance. If the area where fastening is required is hard to reach, in the corner of a furniture piece or on the ceiling, for example, you can use the other two positions. One of them has the handle in the same line as the spindle to make the tool longer.
The Operation Modes
The BLACK+DECKER LI2000 has a forward and reverse mode for screw driving and screw removal. It is easy to switch between the two. The cordless screwdriver works reliably in both modes. You can expect the highest degree of accuracy with minimal risk of issues. I like how versatile this power tool is.
The Bits Evaluated
The tool comes with 2 hex shank screwdriver bits. They are exactly what you need for the main screw driving and screw removal jobs. If you want to use the tool for more applications, you can get more bits separately. Provided that the size is correct, you will find them easy to add and reliable to use.
The spindle lock is another one of my favorite features. It allows for manual screw driving which in turn enables you to have greater control over the work. You can literally feel the tool and this helps you achieve an even higher level of precision when using the BLACK+DECKER LI2000 cordless screwdriver.
To be honest, I didn’t expect the motor to be so powerful. It produces 40 in-lbs of torque and enables the tool to operate at a speed of 180 rpm. You can expect the screwdriver to run smoothly at all times and to complete all tasks very quickly. This is a major requirement that every power tool should meet even if it is used for maintenance like the Work Sharp WS3000 tool sharpener, for example.
How about Battery Life?
As the name of this cordless screwdriver implies, it is equipped with a lithium-ion battery. As you know, this type of battery doesn’t have memory problems, so you will always get it fully charged no matter how much power is left in it after use. In general, you will have power for up to 2 hours of continuous operation when the battery is fully charged. This is quite good for such a small tool. What’s even more impressive is that the battery can hold charge for as many as 18 months. This is fantastic news for people who unlike me use power tools occasionally.
The battery charger doesn’t have an indicator light, so you cannot tell exactly when the battery is fully charged. Still, given the small size of the power tool, you should give it around four to five hours at the most. For me, this isn’t a big issue at all, given how reliably the screwdriver works.
The BLACK+DECKER LI2000 cordless screwdriver is one of the most useful power tools to have at home, even if you are not a passionate DIYer. Get more details and access more reviews by going to Amazon.
